Smartshow LMS Forum

Forum rules & terms

The short version: be decent, keep the private areas private, and post what you find. That's genuinely it — the rest is detail.

1. Who this is for

This forum is for people using Smartshow LMS — reporting what breaks, asking for what's missing, and helping each other get rigs working. Accounts are free. There's no obligation to post, test anything, or stay.

2. Posting

3. The private areas — the one real rule

Anything in a 🔒 private area or private group stays there. Don't screenshot it, forward it, or repeat it elsewhere. Those areas exist so unfinished work, pre-release builds and other people's install details can be discussed openly, and that only works if everyone in them can rely on it.

4. Be decent

Disagree with the idea, not the person. No abuse, no harassment, nothing you wouldn't say to someone at a gig. Don't post other people's personal information. Don't advertise — mentioning a product that solves someone's problem is helpful, spamming isn't.

5. What you post

Your words stay yours. By posting you're allowing Lee to use what you write for the purpose of building the software — reproducing a bug, quoting a suggestion in release notes, showing a thread to another tester chasing the same fault. That's the deal, and it's the only one.

If you attach a screenshot or clip, make sure you're happy for other testers and the admins to see it. Check the corners for anything you'd rather not share — client names, venue details, e-mail in a notification.

6. Moderation

The admins can set a thread's status, lock it, move it to a different category, and in rare cases remove a post. Statuses aren't judgements — Parked means good idea but not now, and Won't fix always comes with a reason written in the thread. If something is moved or closed and you don't understand why, ask. You'll get an answer.

7. Your account and your data

Signing up stores your name, your e-mail address and what you post. Nothing is sold, rented or shared for marketing — ever. Your e-mail is used to notify you about replies and, occasionally, a new release.

Want your account deleted? Email lee@leejamesapps.co.uk and it goes, along with your posts if you'd rather they went too. No forms, no retention period, no arguing.

The full detail of what the app and website collect is in the Smartshow LMS privacy policy.

8. No warranty on any of it

Advice here comes from other users and from Lee, given in good faith and often at speed. It isn't a support contract. You're responsible for your own show — test the rig before there's an audience in the room. The software's own terms are in the Terms of Use.

9. If these change

The date below changes with them, and anything significant gets posted in News.
